A Marcus Rashford hat-trick helped The Red Devils to overcome last year’s Champions League semi-finalists on their own turf.

Mason Greenwood gave the hosts a lead, after scoring a beautifully placed goal from Paul Pogba’s perfectly weighted pass in the 21st minute.

Leipzig tested United’s Spanish goalkeeper through a shot by Nkunku but it was comfortably saved by De Gea.

In the second half, the German giants who are leading the Bundesliga table barely threatened the United backline. Ole Gunnar Solkjaer men were finally rewarded when Marcus Rashford scored a clinical 1v1 goal, which was initially given as an offside.

Rashford made it 3-0 after two minutes when Leipzig were caught napping inside their own half. In the 84th minute, Marcel Sabitzer tripped Anthony Martial, who was in on goal.

Martial scored from the resulting penalty to take United’s tally to an astonishing four goals. Rashford completed a five-star performance from the home side, after his third and the team’s fourth rounded off an amazing matchday.

The Red Devils now host Arsenal in the match of the weekend. If they perform anywhere close to what they did against Leipzig, there would be all smiles in the United dugout again.
