The Champions have continued their winning form from last season to this one. In just 14 matches played, they have lost just 4 points- winning 12 and drawing 2. Pep Guardiola has managed his side brilliantly, taking the best out of each player. Even with all the injuries they have- Kevin De Bruyne, Sergio Aguero- they just seem to find a way. They traveled to Watford on Tuesday in a thrilling encounter.
The visitors demanded the match in the opening stages. Riyad Mahrez and Leroy Sane firing the crosses in the box, while Kyle Walker and Fabian Delph providing the width. Ben Foster, Watford’s goalkeeper,Manchester City was the home sides savior, saving shot after shot. Watford did have a chance with Doucoure putting a ball for captain Troy Deeney only for the impressive Ederson to save. Man City finally broke the deadlock with Mahrez curling in a beautiful cross for Sane to chest the ball in. 1-0 to City and the half ended with City dominating the possession.
Watford began the second half sharply, but couldn’t cope up with the Cityzens brilliance. Jesus squared the ball for Mahrez, for the Algerian to put the ball over the line emphatically. 2 goals down, but Watford’s head lifted up. They created chance after chance but failed to score. Finally, in the 85th minute, Doucoure scored a consolation for the home side. The match ended 2-1 to City who extended their lead at the top to 5 points.
