Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho said that he will “never consider Spurs as title contenders.”
After another impressive display against Burnley, the reporters were quick to point out Spurs’ possibility of a title challenge. The North London based club is clearly showing signs of a title fight.

They are currently the top scorers in the league with Son leading the rest of the pack with eight goals. Kane’s exceptional form continued in Turf Moor, but not in the form of goals but rather assists. He also leads as the player with most assists.

Both have combined for an enormous nine goals already, but Mourinho was adamant that his side were not challenging for the title this season. “I will never consider ourselves title contenders,” Mourinho said.

Still early on to talk about the title: Kane

These are usual tactics deployed by managers and coaches to put the pressure off their respective teams. Harry Kane was also quick to point out that it’s too soon for them to be considered as title challengers.

“We know with the team we have got and the players we have got we can do something special,” he told the BBC.

“It’s still early on (to talk about a title challenge). “We need to take each game as it comes.

“I know it’s a cliche but we still have a lot to learn and build on but I think nights like this will give us a lot of confidence.

“These are the games you need three points if you are going to be up there at the end of the season.”
