Arsenal secured the signing of Thomas Partey from Atletico Madrid in what proved to be an exceptional transfer deadline day for the Gunners.

The Ghanian joined Arsenal in a £50 million move from the Spanish capital. Given he’s 27 years old, he is yet to reach his potential in the center of the park.

Arsenal fans went into a meltdown when Thomas Partey’s signing was made official on the club’s social media handles. The Gunners’ faithful had to wait more than one week to have a glance at their new signing in an Arsenal shirt due to the International break. Partey, who will wear the number 18 at the Emirates said that he was aware of the fanfare that surrounded his transfer.

The 27-year-old said, “I feel so happy, I already feel part of the family because the fans have received me. Everybody is saying nice things about me and, you know, to be received like this is a great feeling,” Partey told Arsenal.com.

“This a great club, it is one of the biggest clubs in Europe. It is a club that deserves to be aspiring for greater things and I think it doesn’t happen in a day. We have to work hard to make sure we are back to where we belong.

“I want to make everyone feel happy.”
