West Ham have secured the signing of Said Benrahma in a deal worth to be around £25 million.

After a discrepancy was spotted on the medical, West Ham opted for a loan deal rather than a purchase for Said Benrahma. They will now sign the Algerian winger on a year-long loan deal for £4 million. He will make the move permanent at the end of the current campaign for £21 million.

Since joining Brentford from the French club Nice in 2018, Benrahma graced the Championship stage with style. His slick dribbling skills coupled with clinical finishing and passing made the sight at Griffin Park, now known as Brentford Community Stadium, spectacular.

The case was of ‘when’ not ‘if’ Said Benrahma will leave the Championship for Premier League. Number of clubs were interested in him all summer long. Chelsea made an enquiry but never followed it with a bid.

The likes of Crystal Palace, Aston Villa made advancements but then believed they had enough cover in Benrahma’s position.

Benrahma’s deal is great for West Ham who struggled to find their feet at the start of the campaign. Since their defeat against Arsenal at the Emirates, West Ham are unbeaten and sit at a satisfactory 12th position with a game in hand.

They will hope to make it three wins in a row against Jose Mourinho’s side on Sunday. Said Benrahma to score a winner? Ask a West Ham fan.
