Paris Saint Germain’s true colours are being showcased as the Ligue 1 leaders were handed another loss, this time by Nantes as the hosts edged Thomas Tuchel’s Parisians 3-2. Earlier, it was Lille that handed the leaders a 5-1 drubbing, stopping the French giants from clinching the title.

Les Parisians could have sealed it this past Sunday and the weekend before that but picked up only one point from those two matches. Wonderkid Kylian Mbappe was dropped for the encounter which cost PSG dearly.

The celebrations seemed to have started early after full-back Dani Alves put PSG ahead with a superb strike from outside the box. However, PSG’s defence crumbled again as Diego Carlos struck four minutes after the Brazilian gave the leaders the lead.

Just before half-time, Nantes striker Abdul Waris struck to give the hosts the lead with the scoreline reading 2-1. In the 55th minute, PSG conceded a third goal which came off Dani Alves.

Nantes, which moved up to 14th place after the win, missed further chances before PSG substitute Metehan Guclu pulled a goal back in the 90th.

PSG coach Thomas Tuchel did not defend his players after another loss in the league.

“We didn’t perform in 90 minutes. There was no performance, no performance at all. So it was impossible to win. We can lose, we can do mistakes, and we [the club] will always defend players if they play with a good mentality, with desire and as a team,” Tuchel told reporters after the match.

“I always defend my players, but today it’s not possible.”

PSG next face rivals Monaco and need just a win to get their hands on the league title. It is expected for Neymar to return at the end of the month which will be a huge boost for PSG and Tuchel.
