The Spanish giants Real Madrid have signed Porto’s central defender Éder Gabriel Militão for the next six seasons. The 21-year-old has become the first signing of Real Madrid after Zinedine Zidane as head coach. Sacked Santiago Solari was replaced by Zidane as Real was facing continuous defeats in past tournaments. The board has appointed Frenchman for next three years till June 2022. “Real Madrid C. F. and FC Porto have agreed the transfer of Eder Militao and the player will sign on a six-year contract running until the 30th of June 2025,” said the Spanish football club.
Eder who joined Porto from his home team Sao Paulo , will join his new team-mates in the beginning of next season. Real Madrid is believed to have signed the Brazilian footballer in €50m (£43.5m) after meeting a buyout clause which was set to rise by 50% at the end of the season. The centre-back player Militão can also play at right-back and as a defensive midfielder for Real. Militão who has already won a Brazilian cap, made his international debut against the Salvadoreans in September 2018 where he played full 90 minutes of a 5–0 win
Real is looking likely to end this season without a trophy as Ajax Amsterdam has turned around the tables by defeating unbeatable champions at home by 4-1. As a result the Spanish squad was eliminated from the tournament stage disgracefully. Earlier in La Liga, Real were 12 points behind their arch-rivals Barcelona and were also knocked down in Copa del Rey.
