The ill-fated stars of Lionel Messi troubled him one more time. In the recently concluded 2019 La Liga clash of Barcelona against Villarreal, Messi was forced to walk off the field after injury in his left thigh. The game which was started with some amazing shots of Messi ended with a shocking injury blow. After star forward’s departure from the game, Ousmane Dembele took his place to lead Barca squad towards much-needed victory.
Despite Messi’s unexpected injury in the game, head coach Ernesto Valverde had something to celebrate for. Barcelona overcame all the hiccups and clinched the win against Villarreal by 2-1 verdict at Camp Nou stadium.
The whole team of Barca was curiously waiting for Messi’s return in the team’s line up and fortunately, their wish also came true as after back-to-back big blows he finally came back to play for Barcelona. But the moment he returned to Barca, Messi again picked up a painful injury in the left thigh. Earlier before the campaign opener, Messi suffered a painful calf injury during a training session. After this career-threatening injury, Messi had to be sidelined from the game for almost a month.
It seems like Messi will have to suffer from this injury for a little more time. Nothing could be said on when Messi will return to the squad now. Only time will tell what happens next in the super exciting league of La Liga 2019-20. Barcelona will next prepare to face a powerful squad of Getafe CF at Coliseum Alfonso Pérez, Getafe on September 28th. While Villarreal will next battle with Real Betis in front of the home crowd at El Madrigal on the same day.
While consoling Messi’s situation in the game boss of Barcelona FC Ernesto Valverde said, “when something happens to Messi, everyone stops, not only on the field but in the stands as well”. Further, he also added, “It is a small problem in the adductor and as a precaution, we have decided not to risk it. In theory, it is nothing more but we will see tomorrow how it is”.
