Zinedine Zidane commenced the first match of his second stint with a 2-0 victory over Celta Vigo in La Liga 2019 at homeground Santiago Bernabeu. Zidane made some bold calls to made the Spanish giants win this time after losing the past tournaments. In this tournament Zidane managed the squad after taking the reigns back from Lopetegui and Solari. The decision of selecting Isco who also made his return to the team as he was thrown out by Santiago Solari, has proven right for the Frenchman as Isco was the one who stroked the goal first after the scoreless struggle of first 45 minutes. Zidane’s smart team selection which include left-back Marcelo, Isco and Bale into starting XI and Keylor Navas as goalie became the biggest reason for victory celebration.

After the intial struggle of 45 minutes when Spaniards couldn’t find the net, Real got a hope in 56th minute but the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) system nullified an apparent goal by Luka Modric as the defender Raphael Varane had obstructed the goalie’s view from offside position which made the team upset. Six minutes after then, Karim Benzema received a pass from Marco Asensio and set up a sliding pass to Isco for the opener inside the box. Later in 77th minute Marcelo sent a low cross from left side to Bale who’s right-footed strike hit the centre of the box to score secondgoal against Celta.
The victory leads Real Madrid one step forward to La Liga 2019 crown. Spaniards are currently at a third place in La Liga with 54 points. They are nine points behind league-leading Barcelona. Earlier in La Liga, Real were 12 points behind their arch-rivals Barcelona and were knocked down in Copa del Rey.
