Indian women maintained their dominance in the third match of 2019 FIH Series Finals as they fiercely thrashed the Pool A mates Fiji with a margin of 11-0 at Hiroshima on Tuesday.

India seemed to look in attacking form right from the beginning of the game and the journey of their one-sided victory started when star forward Lalremsiami opened the account for the country in the 4th minute. This was later followed by brilliant skipper Rani Rampal who doubled the lead for India at 10th minute. Just after a minute, India bagged its third goal with the help of attacking midfielder Monika Malik who fired the goal for her side after Neha Goyal’s pass. It was then another front-liner Vandana Katariya who came forward to give a 4-0 lead to India at the 12th minute. Gurjit then netted four consecutive goals for India at 15th, 19th, 21st and 22nd minute and led the Indian squad to a 8-0 lead.

After the eighth goal of Indian team, it became impossible for Fijians to come back in the game and before they could earn any kind of opportunity India knocked its ninth goal with the assistance of Monika Malik in the 33rd minute. The winning-streak was then followed by explosive forward Lilima Minz who took the scoreboard to 10-0 for India. The final goal for Indian hockey squad was scored by Navneet Kaur at 57th minute. With this India won the encounter against Fijians with a comfortable 11-0 victory.

The triumph led Indian women to reach the semi-final round of the biggest hockey tournament which is considered to be the road to Tokyo Olympics. World No. 9 Indian squad dominated their bottom-ranked opponents throughout the game and allowed the Fijians only once to have a circle entry in the match. While India made a total of 74 circle entries into opposition’s area.

Earlier in their second match against Poland, Indian women shone with a 5-0 clinical win at Hiroshima. In that match also the action-pack winning team performed very well and didn’t gave any chance to opponents to score in 60 minutes game time. India will next be seen in the final-four round scheduled to be held on this Saturday.
