Haryana Steelers finally bounced back after their humiliating defeat against lowly-ranked UP Yoddha in the home-leg opener. The Steelers narrowly edged past the last year’s runners-up Gujarat Fortune Giants in the 114th match of Pro Kabaddi League season seven on Sunday. Dharmaraj Cheralathan-led Steelers beat Rohit Gulia and team with the very close margin of 38-37 at Tau Devilal Sports Complex, Panchkula. All thanks to the Super 10 raid points of Vikas Kandola who once again shined for the hosts.

It was Fortunegiants who started the game first with a strong approach as star raiders  Rohit Gulia and Sonu impressed the audience with some high-flying raids. Though Haryana’s Vikas Kandola was no less behind the opponents as he also kept scoring for the hosts. Despite putting his best efforts Giants enforced the first All-Out of the night on Haryana at the ninth minute. Even after the All-Out Steelers kept fighting for their team’s win and reduce the gap to 19-14 at the end of the first half.

In the second half, home-side bounced back strongly and started playing on the front foot. This time Steelers registered the All-Out on Fortunegiants. In the dying minutes of the second half, Gujarat Giants leveled up the game to outplay a tie but when only one second left on the clock Steelers sent Rohit Gulia off the mat and finished the match at winning side.

Before the nail-biting battle of Haryana Steelers and Gujarat Fortune Giants, table-toppers Dabang Delhi K.C and bottom-ranked Punerui Paltan also faced each other where Delhi boys clinched the win by 40-60 verdict on Sunday at Tau Devilal Sports Complex, Panchkula. The credit of Dabang Delhi’s lop-sided win goes to star raider Naveen Kumar who scored career-best 15 raid points for his team.
