Star raider Rohit Baliyan’s last-minute action saved his squad U Mumba in the 43rd encounter of Pro Kabaddi League 2019 against Patna Pirates. Mumba boys edged past three-time title lifters Patna Pirates with the verdict of 34-30 on Friday at EKA Arena Stadium, Gujarat.

The match started with both the squads went hard on each other and all of a sudden PKL champions, Patna Pirates inflicted first all-out against Mumba in the early minutes. Though Mumba boys were also no less behind the champions as they also leveled up the game with 5-5 points early on. The Maharashtra-based squad then found a much-needed lead in the nail-biting encounter and began to build its winning momentum. In a very few time, Mumba constructed a massive-point lead in front of Patna Pirates. As a result, brilliant raider of Pirates Vikas Jaglan then came forward to reduce some gap between both the teams. But still, U Mumba was way too forward than Patna. Eventually, Mumba boys scored their first All-out also after a successful two-point raid by Athul MS. This made Patna Pirates helpless as they left with only three men on the mat.

When only 10 minutes were left in the ending of first half, Patna Pirates somehow managed to earn few more points and took the scoreboard to 26-21, In the second half also, Mumba kept on its dominance alive against Pirates and led the scoreboard by 29-27. That was the time when everybody’s heart came in their mouth as nobody knew what was going to happen at that moment. Finally, U Mumba came out of the mat as winners with 34-30 verdict.

With this hard-fought win, U Mumba has improved better in current PKL standings as the Mumba boys reached to the fourth position along with 23 points while Pirates moved down to the ninth spot along with 17 points in recent standings.

Fazel Atrachali-led squad will next take on strong opponents Haryana Steelers in the upcoming battle at Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium, Delhi on August 19th while Patna Pirates will test their fortunes against Bengal Warriors on August 22nd at the same pitch.
