The all-round performance of UP Yoddha stunned last year’s runners-up Gujarat Fortune Giants at Netaji Indoor Stadium, Kolkata on Monday. Nitish Kumar-led squad defeated lowly-ranked Fortunegiants by the 33-26 verdict. All thanks to brilliant defensive pair of Nitesh Kumar and Sumit who scored four and five tackle points respectively to ensure their team’s win.

Both the teams went hard on each other as none of them was ready to lose a single point at the early stage. But still, it was Gujarat’s star raider Sachin Tanwar who grabbed the two-point lead for his team. There is no doubt in saying that the first half was all about raiders and their super-strong raids. The defensive unit of both the squads struggled hard in the initial stage. So the responsibility came on the shoulders of raiding team of UP to secure maximum points in the tough battle. The experienced raider of UP Shrikant Jadhav gave his best to lift his squad up in the absence of raiding maestro Monu Goyat. Jadhav did wonders for his team as he enforced the first All-Out of the night on Fortunegiants in the final minute of the first half in order to take the 16-9 lead.

In the second half also UP boys maintained their dominance over the strong opponents as they raced to the second All-Out on Gujarat at the eighth minute of the second half. After this, it was no looking back for Yoddhas in the game and eventually they sealed the encounter with a perfect win.
