The all-rounder performance of UP Yoddha helped them to topple top-ranked Jaipur Pink Panthers in the 50th match of Pro Kabaddi League 2019 at Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium, Delhi on Monday. The lowly-ranked team UP showed the world that PKL is completely unpredictable and the tables can turn here at any point. Nitesh Kumar-led side stunned the Deepak Niwas Hooda and team with the hard-fought margin of 31-24.
Both the teams got off a slow start as none of them were managed to earn even a single tacking point till the 11th minute. Despite the continuous efforts of UP’s Sumit and Jaipur’s Sandeep Kumar Dhull, neither Yoddhas nor Panthers abled to earn a single defensive point. Though the silence broke in the stadium when Panthers inflicted impressive super tackles against UP which gave them the confidence to stay neck-to-neck in a game. However, UP then raised stronger and star raider Shrikanth Jadhav played an impressive raid to reduce the Jaipur men and secured first All-out for the team. As a result, the first half ended with a lead in favour of UP by 17-11.
The second half started with a big blow as star skipper of Jaipur Pink Panthers Deepak Niwas Hooda picked up an injury after inflicting a three-point raid. UP took advantage of the situation and scored a 9-point lead with the help of brilliant raiding team including Rishank Devadiga, Shrikant Yadav and Surender Gill. When only nine minutes were left for the final whistle UP accelerated its speed and left Jaipur far behind. This resulted in Panthers failed to come back in a game and lost by the 31-24 verdict.
