The Eastern Conference team of the NBA, Atlanta Hawks are working on a deal. A deal to hire Nate McMillan as their new assistant coach. Nate McMillan was the head coach of the Indiana Pacers formerly.

Nate McMillan was hired by the Pacers 4 years back. Since then, he has had a record of 183 wins and 136 losses. He also has a 3 wins and 16 losses record in the playoffs. His 183 wins as a head coach for the Indiana Pacers rank third-most in the franchise’s history. He never had a losing season during his tenure at Indiana Pacers.

In the 2019-2020 NBA season, the Pacers had a great record of 45-28 to give them the 4th seed in the Eastern Conference of the association.

They were one of the 22 teams who were called to Orlando for the resumption of the NBA season, in the ‘bubble’. The Pacers had a good record of 6 wins and only 2 losses in their 8 seeding games in the ‘bubble’. They were also playing without their All-Star, Domantas Sabonis who had left Orlando’s ‘bubble’ with a foot injury. They faced the 5th seed Miami Heat in the first round of the 2020 NBA Playoffs and were swept 4-0 in a best-of-7 series. Although the Pacers and McMillan agreed to a one-year extension in nearly August, McMillan was fired about two weeks later.

Atlanta Hawks had yet another poor NBA season. Atlanta had a 20-47 record in the 2020 NBA season. They had the 2nd worst record in the Eastern Conference and the 4th worst in the whole of the league. They weren’t even invited to NBA’s restart in the Orlando ‘bubble’. McMillan will be expecting to replace Melvin Hunt for the position of the assistant coach on Lloyd Pierce’s coaching staff. Hawks have loads of young talented players like 22-year-old All-Star, Trae Young, John Collins and man more talented players.
