Everton’s Dominic Calvert Lewin and Carlo Ancelotti grabbed the Player and Manager of the Month awards, respectively.
Everton is one of only two teams who have their 100% win record intact. They sit at the top of the table after a string of exceptional performances in the Premier League. The opening day win against Spurs was followed by goal-fests against West Brom and Brighton.
The team has gelled up well since the arrival of a new-look midfield trio of James Rodriguez, Abdoulaye Doucoure, and Allan. The Toffees look defensively solid and exciting going forward. Dominic Calvert Lewin has hit a golden patch of form. He is currently in the run for the golden boot with his tally of six goals the most in the league.
Ancelotti is hungry for more success at Goodison Park.
“The key was the first match at Tottenham. That victory increased our confidence. We worked well in the transfer market. We signed players we needed…they have adapted well,” said Ancelotti.
He continued, “Our target is to reach Europe next season and to stay at the top for as long as possible.”
It was Ancelotti’s 100th game in-charge in the Premier League and a win against Brighton was his 60th. Only five managers in Premier League history have had more wins in their first 100 matches. Pep Guardiola and Jose Mourinho together sit at 73 wins, whereas Manuel Pellegrini was at 65, and Alex Ferguson and Roberto Mancini had 62 apiece.
The way Everton has started their league campaign is impressive. But the biggest test of ‘consistency’ lies ahead for the Toffees.
