Spurs have signed Swansea City’s 22-year-old defender Joe Rodon for £15 million on a five-year contract.
The deadline for transfers was 5 pm local time, and Tottenham were able to strike the deal with the Swans just hours before. Spurs turned their attention to the Welsh international when their efforts to sign Inter’s Milan Skriniar and Chelsea’s Antonio Rudiger were deemed impossible.
Spurs will hope to finish in the Champions League places come May.
Chelsea would have allowed Rudiger to depart for a club outside England on a loan deal. But, they feared strengthening a direct top-four rival.
Earlier on 16th October, Mourinho hailed the chairman when he was speaking to the press. He called the long-serving Spurs chairman Daniel Levy a “genius.”
The North-London club had an impressive summer. The likes of Gareth Bale, Sergi Reguilon, Vinicius, Hojberg, Doherty, Joe Hart, and finally Rodon, moved to the Tottenham Hotspur stadium.
With the fresh additions, Jose Mourinho has enough depth to compete for Spurs’ first trophy since 2008.
Spurs will host West Ham on Sunday and LASK on Thursday night in the Europa League.
