Swiss veteran Roger Federer is all set to clinch one more title on his name in the final showdown at Miami Open as the ace tennis player defeated Canadian star Denis Shapovalov by 6-2, 6-4 in the semi finals of Miami Open on Friday night. Federer was brilliant in his masterstrokes and defeated the 19-year-old young star who was playing in front of his idol for the first time, in one hour and 13 minutes.

Shapovalov said on his defeat against his idol, “It’s kind of surreal, being on the court against Roger. Obviously I wasn’t trying to focus on the fact that it’s him on the other side” while Federer encouraged the Canadian and his game by saying, “he played very well”. He also expressed his feelings on the amazing victory ,”I think the first game helped me get a read on his serve, he has a real elastic arm. I played really good, it’s not easy to play that good against a leftie. He is great already but will be a better player in the future”.

Earlier, in the quarterfinals of the tournament, Federer defeated South Africa’s Kevin Anderson with his master strokes in Hard Rock Stadium on March 28. The 20-time Grand Slam Champion has defeated the sixth-seeded Anderson by 6-0,6-4 while Shapovalov defeated American young gun Frances Tiafoe by 6-7(5/7), 6-4, 6-2 in his last match.

The Swiss tennis player will next take on seventh-seeded and defending champion American player John Isner in the finals,  who earlier won by 7-6 (3), 7-6 (4) against the world number 57 young Canadian star and Shapovalov’s fellow Felix Auger-Aliassime. Isner is also looking forward to the exciting face off with Roger Federer in his next match. Now it will be interesting to see that among such two veteran players who clinch the Miami crown.
