Tennis Stars Maria Sharapova And Venus Williams Join The Cincinnati Open 2019 As Wildcards

Maria Sharapova and Venus Williams will be seen in next Cincinnati Open 2019 as brand new wildcard entries.

Former World No. 1 female tennis player Venus Williams and her strong competitor Maria Sharapova of Russia have recently got the big opportunity by official tennis authorities. Both the legendary players will be seen in next Cincinnati Open 2019 as wildcard entries. The female stars will join the main draw of the tournament starting from August 10th till August 18th.

Cincinnati Open Tournament Director Andre Silva said on the joining of Sharapova and Williams at Citi Open, “Maria and Venus are two of the greatest champions in tennis history. We look forward to both joining our world-class field and are eager for the tournament to get underway next weekend”.

The Russian professional Sharapova owns total 36 career titles on her name which also included five crucial titles in major tournaments.  She is one of the ten women, and the first Russian player in the history of tennis to hold the career Grand Slam records. Sharapova also attained the World No. 1 position in WTA rankings and she held the reigns for total 21 weeks.

On the other hand, Williams in her inspiring tennis career so far has won a total of 49 big titles which also included seven Grand Slam championships. The renowned American earned the prestigious runner-up titles total nine times in most of the Grand Slam tournaments. Not only this, but Williams has also held the WTA No.1 ranking for 11 weeks and she won the gold medal in women’s singles at the 2000 Sydney Olympics.

Coming back to Citi Open, apart from Williams and Sharapova legendary player Andy Murray is also coming back to the court with his brother Jamie. The Murray brothers have also started sweating out for the upcoming tournament in Wahington D.C.
