Ace tennis player Stefanos Tsitsipas has put up a great show against Jordan Thompson of Australia in order to pave his way at Citi Open 2019. In the exciting encounter of ‘Round of 16’, the 20-year-old young Greek player performed brilliantly and thrashed his strong opponent by 6-3, 7-6 (7-4) in a hard-fought battle on Thursday. The top-seeded player took only one break to seal the first set with a perfect win against Australian in the 99 minutes of action. With this prestigious tournament, Tsitsipas is looking forward to clinching his fourth ATP title in the tennis career so far.

Apart from Stefanos Tsitsipas other star players like Marin Čilić of Croatia, Daniil Medvedev of Russia, Benoît Paire of France, Norbert Gombos of Slovakia, and Nick Kyrgios of Australia also make their ways for Washinton quarterfinals. When on one side, Greek veteran set his meeting with Frenchman Paire, Marin Čilić on the other is going to face Medvedev. Nick Kyrgios will take on Slovak Gombos in the upcoming tournament on Saturday. 

In Women’s Singles, Russian star Anna Kalinskaya set his meet Kristina Mladenovic of France in the quarterfinals after defeating Puerto Rican star Monica Puig with a close margin of 2-6, 7-6, 7-5, 6-4 in a Round of 16 on Thursday. American professional Caty McNally also advanced to the final eight-member round after Christina McHale by 6-3, 1-6, 6-3 in the Round of 16. Caty will next battle with Hsieh Su-Wei who outclassed Varvara Gracheva in previous Round of 16 with a margin of 7-5, 4-6, 7-6, (8-6) on Thursday.

In Men’s Doubles renowned brothers Andy Murray and Jamie Murray reached the quarterfinal round as they toppled over powerful opponents Nicolas Mahut and Edouard Roger-Vasselin with a scoreline of 6-4, 6-7(7), 10-5. The champion Murray brothers will next face the strong pair of Michael Venus and Raven Klaasen in the quarterfinals on Saturday. The outstanding duo of Venus and Klaasen progressed to the next round after beating Andreas Mies and Kevin Krawietz with an impressive scoreline of 6-3, 3-6, 10-7 at William H.G. Fitzgerald Tennis Stadium. 
In women’s doubles, Chinese duo Yang Zhaoxuan and Wang Yafan make their ways for quarter-final battle after defeating Elixane Lechemia and Alison Bai by 6-0, 6-3. They will next face Shelby Rogers and Jessica Pegula on Saturday.
