Defending champion Novak Djokovic kept his dominance alive in the third round of 2019 US Open also as he beat American professional Denis Kudla with a comfortable 6-3, 6-4, 6-2 win. The game that lasted for more than two hours witnessed six aces of World No.1 which was not less than any treat for a Djokovic fan. The strong Serbian will next face World No. 23 Stan Wawrinka in the Round of 16. The Swiss player could be a tough call for tennis champions Novak as he had clinched the US Open title earlier in 2016 and looking more determinant in this year also. Wawrinka defeated Italian star Paolo Lorenzi in the third round by 6-4, 7-6 (11-9), 7-6(7-4) at Louis Armstrong Stadium.

Apart from first-seeded Novak, World No.3 Roger Federer also booked his spot in last 16 as he toppled Daniel Evans of Britain by 6-2, 6-2, 6-1 verdict. Federer took just one hour and 20 minutes to rattle the British opponent on Friday. Right from the beginning of the game, Federer took control of the game in his hands as he hit 48 winners including 10 aces. With this comfortable win, Federer reached the Round of 16 18th time in his career stint. He will next take on David Goffin of Belgium to secure a seat in quarters.

World No.1 Novak Djokovic said after winning the game without any pain, “I am glad I could play the match almost pain-free. That was a big improvement from the last match”. While Federer said after clinching the victory comfortably, “luck was on my side. There you have it. So, yeah, I understand if Danny is, like, a little bit frustrated”.

Earlier in the second round of the grand tournament, great Serbian player crushed Argentine star Juan Ignacio Londero with a scoreline of 6-4, 7-6(3), 6-1. Even after struggling with a painful injury, Novak put up a great show against an experienced opponent. On the other hand, Swiss veteran Roger Federer also made his way to the third round of grand US Open 2019 after thrashing Bosnian player Damir Dzumhur. He outplayed the powerful contender with an impressive scoreline of 3-6 6-2 6-3 6-4. Federer witnessed a shaky start as he lost second round’s first set but later he took over the game and finished off on a winning side.
