The Colombians put up a great show against the powerful duo in order to make their dream come true at Arthur Ashe Stadium on Friday. With this stunning victory, both Farah and Cabal became the first Colombian-pair in the history of tennis who lift the US Open title.
The deserving winner Robert Farah expressed himself after the dreamy win by saying, “it has been unreal. Is this a dream? What’s going on here? It’s just unbelievable. World No. 2 tennis great Nadal secured his position in the final showdown after defeating Italian star Matteo Berrettini with a scoreline of 7-6 (8/6), 6-4, 6-1 on Friday. While the Russian legend Daniil Medvedev toppled Bulgarian professional Grigor Dimitrovwith the 7-6 (7/5), 6-4, 6-3 win in order to set-up his meeting with legendary player Rafael Nadal. It will be interesting to see who will clinch the shining trophy of US Open 2019 between the two greats.
On the other side in women’s singles World No. 8 tennis star Serena Williams paved her way towards the final showdown of US Open 2019 after defeating World No. 5 Elina Svitolina by 6-3, 6-1 in worth-watching semifinals. The American sensation will next face Canadian star Bianca Andreescu in the final showdown. However, World No. 15 Andreescu booked her spot in the grand finale after beating Swiss veteran Belinda Bencic in the semi-finals by 7-6 (7-3), 7-5. Both the star players will play the grand final round on September 8th at Arthur Ashe Stadium. If Serena clinched the finals successfully then she will mark her 24th major title in tennis career so far.
