World No. 8 Serena Williams made her way to the semifinals of US Open 2019 in women’s singles clash. This happened when the American legend eased past World No.18 Wang Qiang of China with a scoreline of 6-1, 6-0. Williams took just 44 minutes to dethrone Chinese star on Tuesday at Arthur Ashe Stadium.

Right from the beginning of the game, the American was looking in an aggressive form. As a result, she didn’t give any chance to the Chinese opponent to come back in the game and clinched the win easily. With this emphatic win, Williams also recorded her 100th victory in US Open tournament.

The 23-time Grand Slam Champion Serena Williams said after reaching the semifinals of US Open 2019, “it feels good. It feels like, okay, this is what I’ve been training for. This is how hard I’ve been working. It feels like, you know, hard work pays off when that happens”.

Williams will next face Elina Svitolina in the semi-final round of the prestigious tournament. Both the experienced players will go head-on-head to book their spot in the grand finale in order to clinch the shining trophy of US Open 2019. However, it would no be so easy for Williams to knock down the Ukrainian opponent as she has the ability to turn the waves in her favour while playing against Williams. Their fans are eagerly waiting for their upcoming clash in the semis. 

Serena Williams reached the quarter-final stage after defeating 22nd-ranked Petra Martić of Croatia in the Round of 16. She thrashed out the Croatian star with the great margin of 6-3, 6-4 at Arthur Ashe Stadium. While on the other hand, Chinese star Wang Qiang stunned World No. 2, Ashleigh Barty by 6-2, 6-4 comfortable win in the fourth round.

In men’s singles, Grigor Dimitrov made it to semifinals after defeating World No. 3 tennis great Roger Federer in a historic five-set match. The Bulgarian Star clinched maiden 3-6, 6-4, 3-6, 6-4, 6-2 win over third-seeded superstar in the edgy nail-biter. He will next take on World No. 5 Daniil Medvedev of Russia who defeated Swiss veteran Stan Wawrinka in the quarters with a close margin of 7-6 (8-6), 6-3, 3-6, 6-1.
