The French Open 2020 draw has been released and it promises to be a fantastic affair between the OG’s and the next gen! World no. 1 Novak Djokovic is the first seed in France this year and the world no. 2 and 12 time champ Rafael Nadal is seeded second. The US open champion Dominic Thiem is seeded third and Daniil Medvedev is seeded fourth.

The world no. 1 has been handed a relatively easy draw this year and has a great chance of winning his 2nd French title. He will be facing 80th ranked Mikael Ymer in the first round. He could face Hugo Dellien or Ričardas Berankis in the 2nd round and then proceed to face a challenge against 7th seed Matteo Berrettini in the quarterfinals. He has been drawn with 4th seed Daniil Medvedev whom he can face in the semi-final.

Road to final – Rafael Nadal

The 12 time winner here will look to equal Federer as he looks forward to win his 20th grand slam. But he has a tough task for the next two weeks. Rafa will begin his title defense against Egor Gerasimov who is ranked 83rd in the world. The ‘King of Clay’ could face a qualifier or Mackenzie McDonald in his second round. Furthermore, he is expected to face Fabio Fognini in the 4th round. Chances are that he will face the US open runner-up Sascha Zverev in the quarter finals and go on to face the the US open champion and a potential favourite with Rafa, Dominic Thiem in the semi-final.

Road to final – Dominic Thiem

Possibly in the form of his life after winning his first grand slam earlier this month, Dominic Thiem will look to make it 2 at his favourite surface. Thiem will start his French Open campaign against Former US Open champion Marin Cilic. The Austrian could clash with the home favourite, Gael Monfils in the quarterfinals. Thiem is in Rafael Nadal’s half, so a mouth watering semi-final clash is very much on the cards.

Road to final – Daniil Medvedev

The 4th seed Russian faces a challenge against Marton Fucsovics in the 1st round. He could go on facing 5th seed Greek, Stefanos Tsitsipas in the quarter final encounter. He is drawn with Djokovic in the top half of the draw. So a possible Djovokvic vs Medvedev semi-final is a definite possibility.

The 3 time(each) grand slam winners will face off each other in the first round of this year’s tournament. Stan Wawrinka comes as the 16th seed in the tournamnet while Andy Murray comes as a wildcard entry in the tournament. It will be the most interesting first round match of the tournament.

The tournament promises to bring a smile during these tough times!
