Ace tennis player Naomi Osaka crashed out in the fourth round of Indian Wells 2019 at California against top-ranked Swiss veteran Belinda Bencic. The champion was toppled up by the defending champion by a margin of 6-3, 6-1 in just 66 minutes of action. “She sort of came out there really aggressive. She sort of knew what she wanted to do more than me,” World No.1 Naomi Osaka stated on her defeat. Bencic has thrashed four top 10 players in Dubai Duty-Free Tennis Championships held in February 2019. While on the other hand, Naomi is the first Asian player to hold the top ranking in women’s single. The top-notch Japanese player has won three titles of elite World Tennis Association (WTA) tour. Winning the remarkable titles of Grand Slam at US Open and Australian Open has driven her lead to become number one in the world.

On this unexpected victory, Bencic said, “I was really happy with the performance. It wasn’t as easy as the result is saying and I didn’t expect it like that, so definitely happy”. The world No. 23 player will next battle against fifth seed player Karolina Pliskova for her place in the semi-finals. The 22-year-old Bencic was the teenager star who won the position of number seven in a world but unfortunately her career was stalled after back and wrist injuries. Earlier four years back, Bencic has defeated another top-notch player Serena Williams in Toronto.

Osaka was not the only top player who was shocked in California court as world No. 2 and 2015 title winner Simona Halep also fell to Czech teenager Marketa Vondrousova by 6-2, 3-6, 6-2. Halep got injured during the match and received treatment for blisters on her foot.
