Even Novak’s opponent Stan Wawrinka was also not happy with his departure as he said after the match, “it’s never the way you want to finish a match. I’m sorry for Novak. He’s an amazing champion”.
This is not the first time when Novak was jolted with an injury issue in US Open 2019 as earlier in the second round against Juan Ignacio Londero also he felt severe pain. Though he somehow managed to battle in the match and even won by 6-4, 7-6(3), 6-1 scoreline. But in Round of 16, Novak lost all the hopes to comeback with unbearable pain.

Both Medvedev and Federer reached to the quarter-finals of US Open 2019 where they will face Swiss veteran Stan Wawrinka and Bulgarian talent Grigor Dimitrov respectively. In recently concluded Round of 16, Federer clashed with World no. 15 David Goffin. He thrashed the Belgian professional with a great margin of 6-2, 6-2, 6-0 at Arthur Ashe Stadium. On the other side, World No.5 Daniil Medvedev reached the quarters after defeating Dominik Koepfer of Germany by 3-6, 6-3, 6-2, 6-7 (7-2) in the third round.
