Former World No.1 tennis player Naomi Osaka is going to participate in the upcoming US Open 2019 along with six-time title champion Serena Wiliams and 13 more Grand-Slam winners. One of the biggest Grand Slam tournaments, US Open will kick-off from August 26th, 2019 and will end on September 8th at USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.

The Top-10 main entrants at 2019 US Open tournament are Karolina Pliskova, Simona Halep, Kiki Bertens, Petra Kvitova, Elina Svitolina, Aryna Sabalenka, 2017 US Open champion Sloane Stephens, two-time US Open champion Venus Williams, 2016 US Open champion Angelique Kerber and 2006 champion Maria Sharapova. The other Grand Slam title winners who will also show their wrist power in the tournament included Victoria Azarenka, Garbine Muguruza, Jelena Ostapenko, and Caroline Wozniacki. Not only this, the world’s top-notched 102 female tennis players will also compete in the biggest tournament after obtaining a direct entry. While eight women will get the wild card entry by United States Tennis Association (USTA).

Earlier in the last edition of US Open, Japanese Star Naomi Osaka clinched her maiden prestigious title against an American opponent Serena Williams in the hard-fought finals of women’s singles. She thrashed the experienced player with a great margin of 6-2, 6-4 in New York. Though Osaka’s celebration was short-lived as just after her first big victory of the season, Williams clashed with chair umpire Carlos Ramos and called him a ‘thief’ after which she was fined by the authorities.

Williams was last seen in Wimbledon Championship 2019. The American reached the finals of this tournament also but was unable to defend her title as World No.4 Romanian player defeated the champion by 6-2, 6-2 in the final. Despite losing her game after coming so close to the destination, Williams improved her position in current WTA rankings as she reached to ninth spot along with total 3,411 points.

On the other hand, World No. 1 male tennis star Novak Djokovic sealed the men’s singles finals of US Open 2018 in September at New York court. The title was his third US Open singles trophy while 14th in Grand Slam championships.
